Modeling and Survey Design
The credibility
of the multi-rater process ultimately rests with the validity and reliability
of the underlying ratings. This is true whether the purpose is to provide developmental
feedback or to provide information as part of a performance management system.
PRA's Industrial and Organizational Psychologists develop competency models and
rating systems that withstand the most rigorous scrutiny. This ensures that ratings
are legally defensible when used for administrative decision-making.
Actionable and
unambiguous items are essential ingredients of a multi-rater survey. These items
should reflect the entire spectrum of relevant leadership and/or competency areas.
Items are written that can be considered as observable or 'knowable' by those
who provide ratings. Furthermore, because the wording of the items creates a framework
of expectations for the organization, PRA ensures that the items we write are
